When Jose Abreu burst into the Majors in 2014, he already had several years of pro ball in Cuba behind him. Already known in baseball circles as the best player on the island, Abreu’s defection in 2013 led to a frenzy of MLB teams bidding for his services. The White Sox were the lucky winners and were quickly rewarded when Abreu was voted the AL's Player AND Rookie of the Month for both April and July, something no one had ever done before. The Cuban sensation was voted to the AL All-Star squad and finished the season with a .317 average and 37 homers - a new White Sox rookie record. At the end of the season Abreu was the obvious choice for the Rookie of the Year honors.

Personalized with “Pito Abreu” on the barrel, Abreu’s rookie season Chandler DTM7C model bat displays outstanding game use with a handle crack. The barrel is covered with ball marks and scuffs along with ink transfers. The Chandler center brand has partially worn off and bat rack paint streaks are visible. The handle has been taped in a spiral pattern to enhance the grip and a light coat of pine tar applied. The knob has a team sticker with Abreu’s number “79” affixed and the rookie sensation has signed the barrel in strong black marker, inscribing, “#79 2014 Game Used Rookie Bat.” The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B17102) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9.5, plus a COA from Beckett Authentication (H39770) for the signature.
