After narrowly missing the MVP Award in 2012 and 2013, Mike Trout finally grabbed the prize in 2014. Since this is an Old Hickory MT27 model bat and not an MT27*, it is determined that this was used during that MVP season by the Angels’ star in batting practice or spring training. Game used bats are signified by the asterisk in the model number on the barrel. The bat shows outstanding use with a handle crack. Numerous ball marks with stitch impressions are visible on the barrel along with blue ink transfers and cleat imprints. An impression of a batting donut is visible and there is a heavy coat of pine tar on the upper and lower handle. The lower handle has been taped in a spiral pattern of adhesive tape to enhance the grip and Trout’s number “27” is hand written on the knob in black marker. This bat comes with an LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15149) for use in batting practice.
