The 2015 New York Mets caught fire when they acquired slugger Yoenis Cespedes from the Detroit Tigers in July of 2015. While Cespedes brought a spark to an otherwise mediocre lineup, the emergence of young lefty and local product Steven Matz may have been the final piece that saw the Mets reach their first World Series since 2000. Matz made his debut in June and proceeded to reel off a 4-0 record in six stars with an impressive 2.27 ERA.
Matz and the New York Mets faced off against the Kansas City Royals in the 2015 World Series and the lefty wore this Majestic size 46 button-down home Mets pinstriped jersey during Game 3 of the 2015 World Series. Matz did not pitch in this game, but did wear this jersey which features “Mets” sewn on across the chest in blue and orange tackle twill. Matz’s number “32” is sewn on in the same orange and blue tackle twill on the left center chest. The Majestic tag is screen-printed on the bottom front left tail with an additional Majestic bar code tag screen-printed below that reads “32 46 2015 WS1”. The back of the jersey has “MATZ” and “32” sewn on in blue and orange tackle twill, with the MLB logo patch in Mets’ colors on the neck. The left sleeve has the Mets’ skyline logo patch while the right sleeve has the vinyl “2015 WORLD SERIES” logo patch. This jersey displays light use and comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (JB038017), authenticating that Matz wore this jersey during Game 3 of the 2015 World Series.
