Offered in this lot is Michelle Akers’ 2015 induction trophy to the Salon de la Fama del Futbol (Soccer Hall of Fame) in Pachuca, Mexico. Akers, a two-time World Cup champion and 1996 Olympic gold medalist, is one of the most decorated players in soccer history, earning the FIFA Woman co-Player of the Century award in 2000. Along with teammate Mia Hamm, Akers was one of two women named to Pele’s “FIFA 100” list of the 125 greatest living soccer players in 2004. Akers retired from USWNT duty in 2000 with 155 caps and 107 goals.
This offered Hall of Fame trophy shows a featureless soccer player in the middle of a bicycle kick on an oversized silver soccer ball. A “Salon de la Fama” crest is applied to the base above a plaque that reads “Michelle Akers 2015”. This trophy measures approximately 18 inches tall and is in excellent condition. It comes with a LOA signed by Michelle Akers herself. A portion of the proceeds shall benefit the Michelle Akers Horse Rescue & Outreach Inc.
