Offered in this lot is a 2016 Copa America Centenario trophy originating from the collection of Alexandre Silva Da Silveira, an employee of the Brazilian Soccer Confederation. The 2016 Copa America was held in the United States for the first time and celebrated 100 years of CONMEBOL and the Copa America. Chile won their second Copa America in a row in 2016, defeating a heavily favored Argentina squad in penalties. Lionel Messi and Lucas Biglia missed spot kicks for la albiceleste in the shootout, dooming Gerardo Martinez’s men to a second consecutive loss to Chile in the Copa finals. Chile’s Alexis Sanchez won the Golden Ball and his teammate Eduardo Vargas’ six goals earned the Santiago native the Golden Boot.

This offered Copa America Centenario trophy is gold and takes the shape of a Grecian urn. Two raised Copa America logos and “Copa America Centenario USA 2016” are applied to one side of the urn, while the opposite side features a “100 años” logo and “Copa America Centenario USA 2016”. Also etched on the trophy is an outline of North, Central, and South America. This trophy comes in the original presentation box and is accompanied by a LOA from Alexandre Silva Da Silveira.
