On October 1, 2016, David Ortiz slapped a J.A. Happ offering into the far right corner of Fenway Park for a single. This 5th inning shot was hit number 2,472 for Ortiz, and the last one of his Hall of Fame bound career - and this is the very bat he used to hit it. This Marucci Papi34 Custom Cut III-LDM bat is un-cracked and shows good game use. The barrel has many ball marks with stitch impressions and white leather ball scuffs visible. The handle has a spiral of specially designed David Ortiz Lizard Skin adhesive to enhance the grip and the upper handle has a light coat of pine tar. The date of manufacture “09/08/16” and Big Papi’s number “34” is stamped into the knob end. To mark the occasion of his final hit, Ortiz has inscribed “Game used 10/01/16 vs Blue Jays Last MLB Hit #2472” in silver pen. This is a true piece of baseball history from the best DH to ever play the game. This game used bat comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (JC 047574) for the signature and game use for the October 1st game.
