Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan wore this white jersey on November 3rd, 2016, against the Falcons division rival, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Falcons won this game by a score of 43-28 in the hostile environment of Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Ryan proved why he was the 2016 NFL MVP, as he threw for 344 and four touchdowns against a Buccaneer defense with a reputation for stinginess. Not only was Ryan prolific, but he was efficient, completing 25 of his 34 passes for a 144.7 passer rating.

     The game started out close, with Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston opening the scoring with a three yard toss to receiver Mike Evans. Ryan and the Falcons quickly equalized, leading the Falcons on a five play, 75 yard drive culminating in a 32 yard touchdown pass to Levine Toilolo. Two Matt Bryant field goals put the Falcons up 13-7, but another Winston-Evans connection gave the Buccaneers a 14-13 lead with 8:35 left in the second quarter. This would be the last lead of the night for the Buccaneers, as Ryan and company proceeded to blow the doors off of the hapless Buccaneer defense.

     Ryan opened the fourth quarter with his fourth and final touchdown pass of the game, throwing a quick two yard pass to rookie Austin Hooper, putting the game completely out of reach 40-14. Ryan would finish the season with 4,944 passing yards, 38 touchdowns, and a paltry seven interceptions. He led the Falcons to the Super Bowl, with only the heroics of Tom Brady preventing the Falcons from hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. Ryan was named MVP at seasons end, a fitting honor for a quarterback who thoroughly dominated the league.

     This white jersey features Ryan’s number “2” sewn on the front, back, and shoulders in red-on-black tackle twill. “RYAN” is sewn across the back shoulders in red-on-black tackle twill on a matching white nameplate. A Falcons logo patch is sewn on each red and black sleeve below a white Nike swoosh. A vinyl NFL logo is attached to the black and red collar. A Nike size “48 Q – BK” tag is sewn on the inside of the back collar with a “2015” flag attached. This jersey shows heavy signs of game use, with stains from the Tifway 419 Bermuda grass surface of the Raymond James Stadium field present across the front of the jersey. A large, grey stain stands out on the left shoulder. The back of the jersey features extensive wear marks as well, with the staining especially prolific around the nameplate and top of the “2”.
