Serena Williams has won 23 major singles titles, most by any man or woman in the Open Era. The Women's Tennis Association ranked her world No. 1 in singles on eight separate occasions between 2002 and 2017.  Her rank as greatest of All time is nearly uncontested.

In 2016, a year after completing her second Serena Slam, amidst her record tying 186th consecutive weeks ranked #1, she participated once again in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro – where she was the defending gold medalist in both singles and doubles and was the heavy favorite to retain those titles. In singles, after defeating Daria Gavrilova and Alize Cornet in the first two rounds, Williams faced Ukraine's Elina Svitolina in the third round in what was a rematch of this year's French Open fourth round, but lost to the Ukrainian, bringing an end to her Olympics campaign.

This Wilson Blade 104 racquet shows excellent use on the handle grips as well as shows scratches on the frame where it would have scrapped the ground on a low-ball strike.  The black racquet with neon lettering has the name “SERENA” on the shaft just below the head of the racquet.  There are no strings inside the racquet as the item comes directly to us from Sao Paulo Brazil, where it was gifted to our consigner who worked with Serena during the 2016 Olympic Games as a manager in the Yonex Stringing room in Rio de Janeiro. The racquet style matches to all three of her Olympic Singles matches including her record 17th straight singles win against Alize Cornet.  The racquet’s provenance is impeccable and comes with a three-page signed and detailed document outlining the origins and obtainment.  As evidenced on other Serena Williams match used racquets, such as the 2018 US Open Finals racquet we sold in December, Serena applies an additional white tape over the handle grip and then it is removed after her matches.
