This Official Major League Robert D. Manfred Jr. baseball was used during the 2017 Yankee Home Opener versus the Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees won this game 8-1 behind a sterling Michael Pineda start and Aaron Judge’s second home run of the season. Judge, who would obliterate the rookie home run record with 52 longballs, finished the game 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. This ball was used during the bottom of the eighth inning during Jacoby Ellsbury’s at-bat against Alex Cobb. Cobb threw this ball for two consecutive knuckle-curve balls, running Ellsbury’s count to 3-2 before the former Red Sox star lined out to right.
Judge has signed the sweet spot of this ball in blue pen. Judge also inscribed “Game Used 2017”, “Rookie Season”, “All Rise!”, and “Judgement Day!” next to his signature. This ball shows good evidence of use, and it comes with a Yankees-Steiner LOA and MLB Authenticated hologram (JB 727027).
