The Boston Red Sox were desperate need for an ace coming into the 2017 season and thus acquired lefty Chris Sale from the Chicago White Sox. Sale made an immediate impact for Boston, going 17 – 8 with an ERA of 2.90 and finished second in the Cy Young voting. Sale pitched one of his best games during the July 26th game in Seattle, when he went 7 1/3 scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts as the Red Sox defeated the Mariners 4-0 at Safeco Field.
