Current Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell wore this black Louisville Cardinals road jersey during the Cardinals 76-72 overtime victory over Syracuse on February 13th, 2017. Mitchell, a 6’3” combo guard in his sophomore and final season with Louisville, scored 16 points to lead the Cardinals. Mitchell’s well-rounded game was on display at the Carrier Dome, as the Connecticut native contributed to the Cards winning effort with 3 steals, 3 assists, and 4 rebounds in 36 minutes. Notably, Mitchell executed a thunderous tomahawk slam off an alley-oop from Deng Adel with just under 11 minutes to go in the first half that quieted the raucous Orange faithful. This win gave the then-eighth ranked Cardinals their 25th win of the season and their ninth in ACC play.

Mitchell was selected with the 13th pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets, with a draft night trade sending “Spida” to the Jazz. Mitchell instantly rejuvenated a Gordon Hayward-less Jazz team, scoring 20.5 points per game in his rookie season while leading Utah to an improbable first round upset of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the playoffs. Mitchell finished second in the NBA Rookie of the Year voting and was a member of the 2017-18 All-Rookie First Team.
