Trout hit a three-run bomb in the bottom of the sixth inning off Anthony Swarzak, the 181st homer of his career, pushing the Anaheim lead to 8-4 in this eventual 12-8 win. Trout finished this game 1-4 with three RBI and a walk. Were it not for an injured thumb causing him to miss several weeks of action, Trout likely would have won the American League MVP Award after finishing the year with 33 homers, a .306 batting average, 72 RBI, 22 steals, and more walks than strikeouts.
