The future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols wore this Los Angeles Angels 1980’s Turn Back the Clock uniform on two occasions during the 2018 season. Pujols wore the jersey in this lot on August 27th, while the three-time National League MVP wore the pants on the 27th and 28th. Both games took place against the Colorado Rockies at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. On the 27th, the Angels engineered a frantic five-run eighth inning to beat the Rockies 10-7, with Pujols reaching base via walk in the rally-filled eighth. Although he was lifted for a pinch runner, Pujols’ substitute Jeffry Marte scored the eventual game-winning run.
The following day, Pujols finished oh-for-two with a walk, sacrifice hit, and RBI as the Rockies defeated the Angels 3-2. This was Pujols’ 64th and final RBI of the 2018 season, with the bona fide hitting legend finishing the year on 19 home runs, 64 RBI, and 20 doubles for the Angels in Mike Scioscia’s final season as manager.
The jersey in this lot is a white pullover with “Angels” and Pujols’ number “5” sewn across the chest in red and navy tackle twill. A gold and navy tackle twill halo is sewn over the “A” in “Angels”. “PUJOLS” and a second “5” are sewn on the back of the jersey in red and navy tackle twill. The sleeves and collar are accented with navy-red-navy striping. A Majestic tag with a size “52” flag is sewn on the front left tail above an Angels barcode tag. The pants in this lot are white, with a navy-red-navy waistband and leg striping. A Majestic logo patch is sewn on the back upper left leg. A Majestic size “38-44.5-33.5 OBC” tag is sewn on the back inside waistband. This pair of baseball pants comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JD163632).
