Offered in this lot is a 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia medal from the preliminary and final draw ceremonies. The official final draw was held at the Kremlin on December 1st, 2017, to establish the groups for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup. Eventual champions France drew Australia, Peru, and Denmark. Hosts Russia were dealt a group of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Uruguay, while Brazil were joined by Switzerland, Costa Rica, and Serbia in Group E. The preliminary draw, which decided qualification fixtures, was held in St. Petersburg on July 25th, 2015.
This offered medal is gold, with a high-relief image of the FIFA World Cup Trophy and “2018 FIFA World Cup Russia” etched on the front of each. The reverse of one medal is etched with “Preliminary Draw / FIFA World Cup / Russia 2018 / Saint Petersburg 2015” and the World Cup logo. The reverse side of the second medal is etched with “Final Draw / FIFA World Cup / Russia 2018 / Moscow 2017”. These medals come in the original presentation boxes and are accompanied by a LOA from Alexandre Silva Da Silveira, an official with the Brazilian Football Confederation.
