In what was easily the best free-agent signing of the 2017-2018 off-season, Julio Daniel “JD” Martinez joined the Boston Red Sox, after spending the 2017 season between the Detroit Tigers and Arizona Diamondbacks. Martinez paid immediate dividends as the Red Sox jumped out to a 17-2 record and never looked back as they cruised to their third straight American League Eastern Division title and set a franchise record for wins.
Martinez wore this road gray button-down Boston Red Sox jersey during the May 3rd game at Texas. Martinez went 2-for-5 in this game, upping his batting average to .345 in what was a rare loss for the Sox. This jersey features “BOSTON” in Tuscan font across the chest in red and navy tackle twill. Manufactured by Majestic, this Flex Base size 48 jersey has gray mesh linings down each side and the back tail. The Majestic tag is screen-printed on the bottom front left tail and the Red Sox bar code tag is applied vertically on the inside center tail and reads “#28 J.D. MARTINEZ 2018 48”. The back of the jersey has “J.D. MARTINEZ” sewn on in red and navy tackle twill, above his number “28” sewn on in McAuliffe style number in red and navy tackle twill. The vinyl MLB logo patch is sewn on the upper back neck. The left sleeve has the two-hanging-socks logo patch, which is above the Majestic logo that is embroidered in red. Martinez signed his name in silver marker on the second rung of the “8” on the back of the jersey and inscribed “Game Used 5/3/18” on the bottom rung of the “8”. This jersey displays light game use and comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (JD147149), authenticating this jersey’s use by Martinez on May 3rd and a Steiner Sports HOLOGRAM ONLY (SS329435) for his signature.
