Los Angeles Angels perennial MVP threat Mike Trout wore this 1980’s Turn Back the Clock Angels uniform (jersey and pants) against the Colorado Rockies on August 27th, 2018 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The has been photo matched by Sports Investors Authentication. The superstar centerfielder’s bat and baserunning delivered the Angels a dramatic 10-7 victory, with Trout kickstarting Los Angeles’ five-run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning. Trout, who collected his 31st home run of the season earlier in the game with a sixth inning blast off Rockies starter Jon Gray, walked to lead off the eighth inning before scoring on Andrelton Simmons’ sacrifice fly in right field’s foul territory. Trout finished the game two for three with a solo home run, two RBI, and three runs scored. The two-time MVP scored on Shohei Ohtani’s fourth inning three-run shot after plating Kole Calhoun with a single off Gray. Trout’s home run was the 232nd of his already legendary career.
Trout finished the 2018 season second in the American League MVP race after posting a Triple Crown slash line of .312/39/79, good for a stratospheric 10.2 bWAR in only 140 games.
