No player in recent memory carried the same expectations and anticipation as the arrival of Shohei Ohtani on the shores of America. While Japan had exported some great players, none had been heralded as another Babe Ruth. For like the Babe, Ohtani was both a great pitcher and hitter. On May 11, 2018 the Texas Rangers were at the Big A to face the Angels. Ohtani was the Angels DH, having pitched a 6-inning, 6-strikeout win against the Colorado Rockies four days earlier. As DH and averaging .348 at that point, Ohtani went 1-for-4 against the Texas Rangers, breaking this bat when he grounded out in the first inning to Joe Mauer.
