New York Mets first baseman made history during the 2021 MLB Home Run Derby held at Coors Field on July 12, 2021 at Coors Field in Denver. The right-handed batter broke Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s First Round record with 35 home runs, defeating Salvador Perez. Alonso would then narrowly defeat Juan Soto with 16 home runs during the Second Round. Alonso faced Trey Mancini in the Final Round, defeating Mancini 23-22 to win his second consecutive Home Run Derby. With the victory, Alonso became the third player in MLB history to win back-to-back Home Run Derbies and the fourth player to win two Home Run Derbies. Alonso's combined 131 home runs during the competition are now most for all-time home runs.
Offered here are a pair of size 13 Nike cleats worn by Pete Alonso during his record-breaking Home Run Derby victory on July 12, 2021. The cleats feature the Nike "Swoosh" logo in orange on the outstep of the right cleat and in navy on the outstep of the left cleat. The number "20" appears across the toe box on the right cleat and the instep of the left cleat in navy, orange, and silver. "HOMERS FOR HEROES 20" logo appears on the instep of the right cleat and the outer toe box on the left cleat. The skyline of New York City appears in white on the heel of each cleat. The cleats were designed by Anthony De Lucia of Lucia Footwear. Velcro ankle straps feature orange stars on a blue background on the right cleat and orange patterns on the left cleat, and the label "HOMERS FOR HEROES" in white across the front. Nine metal cleats are attached to hard plastic soles. The mudguards on each cleat feature orange paint splatters dotted across the mudguards. The cleats display excellent evidence of game use and contain dirt attached to the cleats and soles, wear and abrasions on both toe guards, and stains on the back upper and across the cleats. The cleats come with MLB Authenticated holograms (VS912154-Right Cleat, VS912153-Left Cleat) for the game use.
