Offered in this lot are several strands of hair from Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln, given to the wife of the Governor of Indiana, Joseph A. Wright. Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln gave these strands of hair following Abraham’s inauguration in 1865 as a token of their friendship. Mrs. Wright was an avid collector of the hair of political figures during the late 1800s. These strands of hair have been passed down through the Wright family for generations. This comes with a LOA from University Archives.
