Ayrton Senna was a natural sportsman. His dedication to physical training made him an exemplary athlete who could play any kind of sport. Besides auto racing, he enjoyed playing tennis, running, bicycling, swimming, jet skiing among others.  Senna was a physical-preparation pioneer, in F1. He has often been voted as the best and most influential Formula One driver of all time in various motorsport polls.  And one of his favorite activities to stay in shape was cycling. However, the three-time champion developed his taste for bicycles several years before he became an athlete. Ayrton’s interest for cycling didn’t wane and, in 1994, he even launched an exclusive line of bicycles by renowned manufacturer Carraro, in a partnership with the Senna brand. The profits from units sold at the time helped fund the Ayrton Senna’s Institute’s very first social education solution.

On 28th April 1994, in Padua – Italy, after more than a year of planning and projects, an agreement for the construction of a series of bicycles bearing the name SENNA was concluded just a few days before Ayrton SENNA’s last Grand Prix race.  Unfortunately, while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, Senna died in an accident.

The offered Senna model bicycle frame features a custom paint job, similar to his racing helmet design with a custom painted Aryton Senna facsimile signature.  The bicycle features High Modulus Carbon 9.0 and 5.0 tires and green and yellow painted frame with Katch Pure Carbon handlebar mount.    The bicycle shows moderate wear on the seat and handle grips as well as on the frame in certain spots.  It was donated to our consigners charity and originally sourced from Brazil, Senna’s native country.  The original owner attests to the bicycle being personally owned and used by Senna and based on the provenance and origin of the item, have no reason to believe otherwise.
