A beautiful Babe Ruth signature – placed by the great slugger in jet-black fountain pen ink – graces the unprinted reverse side of this "American Society of Civil Engineers" membership card. The obverse of the card, which is dated 1946, reveals that it was issued to a professional from the organization's Cleveland Section. The viewer of this unique souvenir can only imagine the engineer's frantic fumbling for a suitable item for signing upon running into his hero, probably at a hotel or similar venue where his path happened to intersect with that of the great Bambino.
