This lightly toned, red-stitched Official American League William Harridge stamped baseball bears an autograph that is deliciously "Ruth-ian" signature of none other than Babe Ruth himself. The sight of Babe Ruth's black steel-tipped pen signature example on its sweet spot elevates the ball to a special status as a classic piece of Americana. The ball itself dates to 1942 to 1945 and Ruth was known to be very generous and accomodating for injured soldiers. This ball was signed for an injured soldier of World War II, with a handwritten letter dated November 12th, 2007 accompanying this ball. In creating an exceptional keepsake – and showcasing the most famous signature since John Hancock's – the master signer placed his scripting. Although the "Babe" signed many baseballs in his lifetime and this marvelously displayable specimen illustrates how so many of them came to be regarded as works of art.
