Every baseball fan knows the significance of the numbers 714 and 755, but how about 1469? That is the combined total of Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron’s career home runs. Each ballplayer was their era’s most powerful hitter, for while others blazed bright for short periods, both Ruth and Aaron enjoyed extended careers that saw them steadily raising the bar for career home runs. No baseball autograph collection is complete without a pair of balls signed by these two legends – but what is more elusive, and indeed almost impossible to find, is a ball which collects the signatures of both these giants.

Ruth passed away in 1948 when Aaron was just entering high school, and a career in baseball was just a distant dream. Yet someone had the brilliant idea to take an existing Ruth single-signed ball, signed by the big man just a year before his passing, and present it to the new home run king just two years after he surpassed the most hallowed record in baseball and was still in the process of reaching his ultimate total of 755. This is one of those impossible to find pieces a 1469 ball. The Reach Official American League ball has been signed by Babe Ruth right on its sweet spot in blue fountain pen. An unknown hand has written “1947” to the left of the signature in strong blue ink. Right below the Babe’s sweet spot signature is the mark of his successor on the career home run list, Hank Aaron. Mr. 755 has signed the side panel in black pen adding “Best Wishes” and “1975.” The ball shows toning and medium staining from age and possible use. Ruth signature has faded with time but remains fully legible and is in good condition. Aaron’s signature and inscription is strong and bold. A very unique ball that captures the home run kings of two different eras. This dual-signed baseball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.
