Presented here is a uniquely dual-signed baseball featuring two of the most prominent athletes and names of the 20th century – Babe Ruth and Joe Louis. Elected to the inaugural Major League Baseball Hall of Fame class in 1936 with a 95.13-percent vote --- second only to Ty Cobb --- Babe Ruth remains the biggest name in the sport today. The owner of 714 career home runs to 2,214 career RBI, “The Bambino” redefined baseball with his popularity for over 20 years from 1914-1935.

Louis, known affectionately as the “Brown Bomber,” reigned as heavyweight champion from 1934 to 1951 and was victorious in 25 title defenses overall, a record second only to Julio César Chávez’s 27. In 2005, the International Boxing Research Organization ranked Louis as the best heavyweight of all time while The Ring magazine lists Louis number one on their list of the "100 greatest punchers of all time."

This offered “Official League “Tempered” Baseball Yarn” baseball has been signed by both legends – a truly unique collectible. Ruth signed his name in his customary location – the sweet spot – in bold black steel-tipped fountain pen. Louis signed his name directly to the left of Ruth’s signature on the west panel with the “OFFICIAL WEIGHT AND SIZE” stamp with a black steel-tipped fountain pen. The beauty of this dual-signed ball is that if placed right, the Ruth signature can be displayed as a single or both signatures can be shown together. On the east panel is inscribed “Oct 6, 1940” and accompanying this ball is a black and white photograph showing a pre-game ceremony with an arrow pointing to “Ruth” that has handwritten on the top “Babe Ruth Drawing tickets at Elks Crippled kiddies Ballgame Oct 6, 1940”. The ball displays cracking from what appears to be a coating of shellac and also has some toning. A great and rare dual-signed baseball and it comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (B05116).
