In 1927, Babe Ruth hit 60 home runs, breaking his own record of 59 set in 1921. Lou Gehrig's 47 was the second most in the Major Leagues. Ruth had established an unimaginable long-ball standard and, outdoing that, Gehrig was named the league's Most Valuable Player. Their team lauded as the game’s most dominant ever--a popular opinion that remains prevalent to this day. The offensive onslaught seen from Ruth and Gehrig was unlike anything Major League Baseball has ever seen and has seen since that day.

Any/all material relating to this historic period of Yankee dominance remains the pinnacle in the hobby, commanding a premium for good reason. Offered here is possibly the finest 1926-27 official American League Ban Johnson sphere to be offered to the public. Headlined on the sweet spot by a bold "Babe Ruth" autograph in black steel tip fountain pen, on the south panel, able to be displayed together, is Ruth's supporting slugger "Lou Gehrig" in black fountain tip. Both autographs display together, and ultra-rare and desirable feature, coupled with the dating of this sphere making it one of the most desirable in all the hobby! Overall the sphere itself remains in fine condition with minor scuffing and discoloration. Given the strength of the autographs, the ability to display together and the desirable Ban Johnson medium, this offering surly will become a centerpiece for years to come in even the finest collections. This baseball comes with a LOA from Beckett/BAS Authentication.
