In 1927, Babe Ruth hit 60 home runs, breaking his own record of 59 set in 1921. Lou Gehrig's 47 was the second most in the Major Leagues. Ruth had established an unimaginable long-ball standard and, outdoing that, Gehrig was named the league's Most Valuable Player. Their team lauded as the game's most dominant ever--a popular opinion that remains prevalent to this day. The offensive onslaught seen from Ruth and Gehrig was unlike anything Major League Baseball has ever seen and has seen since that day. Any and all material relating to this historic period of Yankee dominance remains the pinnacle in the hobby, commanding a premium for good reason.

Offered here is possibly the finest 1927 official American League Ban Johnson sphere to be offered to the public. Headlined on the sweet spot by a solid Babe Ruth autograph in black steel tip fountain pen. On the side panel, is Ruth's supporting slugger Lou Gehrig’s black fountain tip signature. Both autographs display tremendously and coupled with the dating of this sphere with the inscription “10/30/27 From” and “To Carl Vitagliano” makes this offering one of the most desirable in the hobby! Overall, the sphere itself remains in fine condition and given the strength of the autographs and the desirable Ban Johnson medium, this offering surely will become a centerpiece for years to come in even the finest collections. This item comes with a LOA from JSA authenticating both Ruth and Gehrig’s signatures.
