Bert Rechichar is a throwback to an older NFL, a safety, kicker, kick returner, punter and more who was drafted by the Cleveland Browns with tenth overall pick of the 1952 NFL Draft. Rechichar played for the Browns in 1952, but enjoyed his greatest success with the Baltimore Colts from 1953 through 1959. Rechichar made three straight Pro Bowls in 1955, 1956, and 1957, and at one point held the record for longest field goal in NFL history at 56 yards. Rechichar was a member of the 1958 Baltimore Colts NFL champions team, and he retired after spending the 1961 season with the New York Titans.
Offered here is Rechichar’s 2003 Baltimore Colts 50th Anniversary All-Time Team award. This trophy features an approximately 18-inch tall football player dressed in a blue Colts number 24 uniform. The player is carrying a ball tucked in his right arm. This trophy stands on a three-inch high plinth for a total height of roughly 21 inches. The plinth measures 8.5 x 9 inches. A plaque affixed to the plinth reads “Leslie Moore Scholarship Foundation / The Baltimore Colts 50th Anniversary All-Time Team / #44 Bert Rechichar Defensive Back / May 5, 2003”. This trophy is in good condition and it comes with a LOA from the Rechichar family.
