Bill Russell was an NBA revolutionary; almost single handedly inventing the art of blocking shots. The former San Francisco Don won 11 championships in his 13 seasons with the Celtics, solidifying his legacy as one of the greatest basketball players ever. Near the end of his career, Russell was named the first African-American head coach in the NBA when he became the player-coach of the Boston Celtics.
This picture shows the Hall of Famer Russell driving to the hoop against his on-court nemesis, Wilt Chamberlain. He signed the picture as “William F. Russell”, his full name. He added the inscriptions “11 WORLD NBA CHAMPIONSHIPS”, “2 TIME NCAA CHAMPION”, “5 TIMES NBA MVP”, “1956 OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL”, “HALL OF FAME 1974” and “8/24”. Russell signed his name and wrote these inscriptions in silver marker. This photo comes in a 26 x 22 inch frame and this photo comes with a LOA from JSA (SM13397).
