Presented here is a Bill Russell twice signed and multi-inscribed Mitchell and Ness Celtics white jersey. A trailblazer in every sense of the word, Russell helped open the NBA up to other players of color with his fearless play and status as an NBA superstar. Near the end of his career, Russell accepted the role of player-coach with his beloved Boston Celtics, thereby becoming the first African-American head coach in NBA history. Not to be outdone, Russell’s high school teammate Frank Robinson became the first African-American manager in MLB history in 1975. Russell, an 11-time NBA champion, has been inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, FIBA Hall of Fame, and College Basketball Hall of Fame.

This white Celtics jersey has “CELTICS” sewn across the front in green tackle twill. Russell’s number “6” is sewn on the front and back in green tackle twill. Mitchell and Ness, NBA Hardwood Classics, and “1962-63 Bill Russell” tags are sewn on the bottom of the jersey. Russell added multiple inscriptions in black Sharpie, including “2X NCAA Champions”, “CAPTAIN 1956 OLYMPIC GOLD”, “5XMVP”, 12X ALL STAR (1963 MVP)”, “14,522 POINTS”, “21,620 REBOUNDS”, “51 REBOUNDS FEB 5 1960”, and “11X CHAMPIONS 8 STRAIGHT”. He signed the jersey twice, adding his jersey number under one signature. This jersey comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (H55117).
