Presented is a signature of United States Apollo 11 astronaut “Buzz” Aldrin on a 3½ x 5½ -inch color postcard of the astronaut in his space suit on the surface of Earth’s Moon with the American flag. Aldrin has signed his name in blue marker in the bottom right below his image. The reverse side of the postcard bears the printed legend “Apollo 11 Moon Landing – July 20, 1969 – Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr., LM pilot, posed next to the U.S. flag on the moon for Commander Neil A. Armstrong. Old Glory seems to be waving, but with no wind on the moon, the effect was obtained by the use of wire on the 3x5 foot American Flag. Note astronauts’ footprints.”
On July 20, 1969, Buzz and Neil Armstrong made their historic Apollo 11 moonwalk, becoming the first two humans to set foot on another world. An estimated 600 million people – at that time, the world’s largest television audience in history – witnessed this unprecedented heroic endeavor.
