Even when his health was failing right up until the end of his life Babe Ruth just couldn’t say no to an autograph request often adding personalized inscriptions Just 26 days before his famous farewell speech on Babe Ruth Day at Yankee Stadium the “Big Bam” signed this Spalding Official League Leader baseball with a personalized inscription. The Babe’s big familiar signature (“9”) in black steel tip fountain pen prominently occupies a side panel moving in the direction of the sweet spot and is as firm and strong as ever. The “To” and “From” are also strong grade but the name of the recipient is a bit hard to decipher. The baseball is inscribed to June. The inscribed date “4/1/47” is penned in an unknown hand. Clean white ball is in excellent condition with all manufactures labeling intact and comes with a full JSA LOA #Y84568. Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
