Billy Goodman was one of those players that teams always wanted to have. While his power numbers weren’t of those like Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle, Goodman was a solid contact hitter and versatile fielder. Goodman played every position except pitcher and catcher and was the 1950 American League batting champion, finishing second in the AL MVP voting to Hall of Famer Phil Rizzuto.
Offered is this Hillerich & Bradsby O1S Billy Goodman Pro Stock bat from 1955. While use of this bat by Goodman cannot be confirmed, what can be confirmed is the outstanding game use. The bat is un-cracked and the barrel displays checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact. Goodman’s factory records could not find this 35-inch O1S model bat being ordered by Goodman. Goodman typically ordered 34 or 34 ½ inch lengths. Thus the 35-inch length makes it likely that this particular bat was team ordered or a pro stock. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15207) who have determined that this Billy Gooman model bat is a Pro Stock model bat.
