The Hall of Fame centerfielder Willie Mays wore this black New York Giants cap circa 1955. Mays had just begun to enter his devastating prime in the mid-1950’s, winning the National League MVP and batting title in 1954 with a Triple Crown slash line of .345/41/110. In 1955, Mays set a then career-high with 51 homers, along with a MLB-best 13 triples, 127 RBI, and a batting average of .319. Mays continued to excel until the end of his career, a year-and-a-half spell with the New York Mets in 1972 and 1973. Mays was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979.

This offered wool New York Giants cap is black, with an orange “NY” embroidered on the front of the cap and an orange button on the crown. A Tim McAuliffe tag is sewn on the sweatband, while size “6 7/8” and “KM Pro Cap” stamps are also present in the sweatband. “MAYS” is handwritten in the sweatband in black marker, while Mays’ number “24” is handwritten on the underside of the brim in the same fashion. This cap comes with a LOA from JT Sports.
