Offered here is a circa 1971-73 game used Harlem Globetrotters jersey worn by Dallas “Big D” Thorton. Thorton is a two-time NCAA College Division All-American, securing the honor during the 1967 and 1968 seasons and won two NCAA College Division titles in 1966 and 1968 while playing for Kentucky Wesleyan College. Selected in the fourth round of the 1968 NBA Draft by the Baltimore Bullets, Thorton was also selected by the Miami Floridians in the 1968 ABA Draft and played two seasons with the team, averaging 8.8 points per game in 1969-1970. Thorton would go on to play for the Harlem Globetrotters, the exhibition basketball team that included athleticism, theater, and comedy in their own unique and entertaining style of play. Thorton played with the Harlem Globetrotters from 1970 to 1983 and appeared in the 1981 film "The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island."

This presented blue durene Harlem Globetrotters road jersey features “HARLEM” across the chest in red-on-white tackle twill. "GLOBETROTTERS" appears across the midsection of the jersey in yellow tackle twill. Four orange and red tackle twill stars appear on the jersey's chest, with one star appearing on the lateral sides. The number "10" appears on the chest and back of the jersey in white-on-red tackle twill. A Wilson size "42" tag appears on the front left tail. Four gold and red stars are located on the back of the jersey. "THORTON" appears across the back of the jersey in red-on-white tackle twill. The jersey displays excellent evidence of game use and contains faint staining of the sleeves and collar, puckering of the tackle twill numbering and lettering, stains on the number "10" on the back and front of the jersey and some fraying of the arm borders by the "T" on the back. The item comes with an LOA from MEARS (318137) for the game use and has been given the highest possible grade of A10.
