Presented here are a pair of size 13 Reebok Pump sneakers worn and signed by Dominique Wilkins during the 1990 season. Considered one of the best dunkers in NBA history, Wilkins earned the nickname “The human highlight reel” after winning two NBA Slam Dunk Contest titles in 1985 and 1990. Wilkins was the 1986 NBA scoring champion and earned nine All-Star selections. Wilkins averaged a cool 26.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.6 steals during the 1989-1990 season that saw the famed dunker earn an All-Star selection. Wilkins gained entry into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006. These presented Reebok pump sneakers feature a red and white colorway. “REEBOK BASKETBALL” is embroidered in red on the white tongue of each sneaker. The iconic Reebok “The Pump” basketball air pump is located on the tongue of each sneaker. “REEBOK” is stamped on the undersole heel of each sneaker. Wilkins signed his name on the toe box and inscribed the number “21” on the toe box of the left sneaker with a black marker. Wilkins signed the outstep of the right sneaker and inscribed the number “21” with a black marker. The signatures and inscriptions are bold, and the sneakers show excellent evidence of game use and contain numerous scuff marks on the toe boxes and toe guards, wear on the outstep and instep, and the rubber foam air vent is detached from the left sneaker. The game used Reebok sneakers worn by Dominique Wilkins during the 1990 season come with an LOA from Tim McCormick, a former Atlanta Hawks teammate of Wilkins who attests that these sneakers were personally given to him by Wilkins. The item comes with an LOA from Beckett Authentication (A31743) for the signatures.
