Offered in this lot is a blue Kansas City Royals hat worn and signed by the Hall of Fame third baseman George Brett circa 1990. A Royals lifer, Brett led Kansas City to their first World Series title in 1985 against the St. Louis Cardinals. Brett, a three-time American League batting champion, was named the 1980 American League MVP after hitting 22 homers with 118 RBI, and leading baseball in batting average (.390), on-base percentage (.454), and slugging percentage (.664). A career .305 hitter, Brett finished his career 3,154 hits and 317 home runs. Brett was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999, appearing on 98.2% of the ballots.
This offered Royals cap is blue, with the Royals “KC” logo sewn on the front in white. Diamond Collection, New Era, and size “7 ¼” tags are sewn on the back sweatband. Brett’s number “5” is handwritten on the underside of the brim in blue marker. Brett has signed the underside of the brim in black marker. This cap comes with a LOA from JT Sports for game use and a LOA from PSA/DNA (X03042) for Brett’s signature.
