Presented is a Muhammad Ali signature and inscription on a limited-edition screen print of noted artist Steve Kaufman’s celebration of the heavyweight champion’s 1960 Rome Olympics Gold Medal victory. Ali has signed his name in the center of the 38 x 38-inch stretched canvas in gold paint pen and inscribed “AKA Cassius Clay” below his signature. Kaufman has signed his name on the back of the canvas in black marker, and “33/100” is below his signature. Before he became one of the most recognizable athletes in the world, Cassius Clay was a brash young fighter who stormed his way to 1960 Olympic Gold in Rome. Portraying “The Greatest” at the dawn of his career, Kaufman’s colorful  collage features  A gold-toned image of Ali in a dark suit with the 1960 US Olympic patch on his jacket pocket, wearing a light shirt and offering a broad smile, with the image  of the young fighter in action in the upper left and an image of him on the Gold Medal stand in the lower left both with blue overlay. The background at the center and right is in red, with the Olympic rings in black, and the name “Ali” repeated in white, gold, red, pink, silver and gold throughout in hand-embellished letters. The name “Cassius Clay” is in gold in the lower right corner, along with the 1960 Olympic boxing results. The canvas is stretched on a wood frame. This item comes with a full LOA from JSA (B54949).
