This lot is part of the Jackie Robinson 71st Anniversary Auction to benefit the Jackie Robinson Foundation

Presented here are 41 photographs signed by Hall of Fame outfielder Monte Irvin. A legendary player for the Newark Eagles of the Negro National League, Irvin made his MLB debut in 1949 with the New York Giants at the age of 30. Irvin starred for the Giants and Chicago Cubs over the next eight seasons, leading the National League in RBI, with 121, in 1951 and earning an All-Star appearance in 1952. A World Series champ in 1954, Irvin was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973. Included in this lot are numerous wire photographs, and pictures taken during and after his lengthy baseball career. Several non-baseball photographs, such as an X-Ray of his fractured leg, are included in this expansive lot. Many of the photographs have been inscribed with “HOF 73”. These items are a great retrospective from one of baseball’s most exemplary careers. This collection comes with an Auction Letter from JSA. Please note that this lot has a 25% Buyer’s Premium. Goldin Auctions will be donating 10% of the winning bid price to The Jackie Robinson Foundation.
