This baseball has been signed by Dale Mitchell, a former All-Star left fielder who played 11 Major League seasons for the Cleveland Indians and Brooklyn Dodgers. Unfortunately for Mitchell, a career .312 hitter, he is most widely remembered for striking out to end Game 5 of the 1956 World Series. Yankees starting pitcher Don Larsen threw the only perfect game in World Series history that day against the Dodgers to help the American League ball club win one of their 27 World Series titles. Mitchell only made one more plate appearance in his career, grounding out in the sixth inning of Game 7 as a pinch hitter for Dodgers pitcher Don Bessent. Mitchell signed the sweet spot of this Charles S. Feeney Official Major League baseball in blue pen. Beneath his signature, Mitchell added the inscription “Last out – Larsen’s Perfect Game”. This ball has been pre-certified by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
