Presented is a limited-edition Dezo Hoffman black & white photographic print of “The Beatles at Liverpool’s Cavern Club April 1963” from the original negative. The Czechoslovakian photographer gained international acclaim during the 1960s with his photos of celebrities including The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Dusty Springfield, Marilyn Monroe, Marlon Brando and others.  Hoffman has captured the “Fab Four” having a discussion in the darkened area in front of the stage. The Beatles are wearing their signature early 1960s suits with their trademark “mop-top” haircuts, John Lennon gesturing with both hands in the air at the left, George Harrison and Ringo Starr in the middle and Paul McCartney responding at the right. Overhead is the curved stone ceiling of the Cavern Club, the Liverpool nightclub that was the “unofficial” home base of the group. The Beatles made their first appearance at the club on February 9, 1961 after returning to Liverpool from Hamburg, Germany where they had been playing at the Indra and the Kaiserkeller clubs. Their stage show had been through a lot of changes, with some in the audience thinking they were watching a German band as they were billed from Hamburg. From 1961 to 1963 The Beatles made 292 appearances at the club, with their last occurring on August 3, 1963, a month after the band recorded "She Loves You" and just six months before the Beatles' first trip to the United States. The photo is inscribed “208/5000” in silver pen in the lower right corner. The 16 x 20-inch photo is mounted in a white matte and displayed in a 20½ x 24½ -inch black metal and glass frame.
