Presented here is a Chicago Bears replica helmet signed by a pair of Hall of Fame teammates, Dick Butkus and Gale Sayers. Butkus, a middle linebacker, and Sayers, a running back, debuted with the Bears in 1965 after being selected with the third and fourth overall picks in the 1965 NFL Draft. Although Sayers retired after the 1971 season and Butkus after 1973, both players made indelible marks on the NFL. Sayers was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1977, and Butkus joined his former teammate in the Hall in 1979. On October 31st, 1994, Butkus and Sayers had their numbers retired by the Bears during a halftime ceremony. The presented Riddell Chicago Bears helmet features the iconic Chicago Bears “C” in white on the right and left side of the helmet. Sayers signed and inscribed the number “40” with a silver metallic paint pen on the left side of the helmet. Butkus signed and inscribed the number “51” and “HOF ‘79’’ with a silver metallic paint pen on the right side. The helmet is glossy and contains a few scratches that do nothing to diminish the luster of this signed helmet. The Chicago Bears replica helmet signed by Hall of Famers Gale Sayers and Dick Butkus comes with an LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signatures.
