Every time Brooklyn slugger Duke Snider looked at this watch he could be reminded that he was part of one of the strongest Dodgers club in franchise history. That 1953 team featured no less than four future Hall of Famers (Snider, Robinson, Campanella and Reese), the National League MVP (Campanella), Rookie of the Year (Gilliam), Pitching leader in winning percentage (Erskine) and 6 All-Stars. The Duke of Flatbush hit a nice .336 with 42 home runs and led the league in slugging. Look Magazine acknowledged his dominance that summer by selecting him to their All-National League Team, and this 14K gold Cyma men's wristwatch was given to The Duke in recognition of that honor. The 1950's style watch features a black face with gold hands and numeral marks. Engraved on the back to Snider with "DUKE SNIDER 1953 LOOK ALL NATIONAL LEAGUE". The watch shows good wear from use including surface scuffs on the crystal. The leather band looks to be a replacement. It does not appear to run when wound, but displays nicely. Hand written letter of provenance from Duke Snider himself and PSA/DNA (X52339). A great piece recognizing the achievements of the Dodgers' premier slugger.
