Presented is a black and white photograph of the destruction of Hiroshima autographed and inscribed by Dutch Van Kirk. As WWII was drawing to a close, Japan refused to surrender the war, which allowed for the U.S. to experiment with their newly created atomic bombs. The U.S. would drop two bombs one in Hiroshima and one in Nagasaki.
This picture shows the aftermath of the bombing in Hiroshima at the hands of Enola Gay. Dutch Van Kirk the pilot of the crew has inscribed the following: “ We dropped the atomic bomb at 8:15 AM……on Aug 6, 1945. It exploded 45 seconds later, 1800 feet above the city of Hiroshima. The city was destroyed but shortly thereafter the war ended and the killing stopped. Navigator – Enola Gay ….Hiroshima – 6 Aug 1945”. It is all signed and inscribed in bold blue ink. This item has been pre-certified by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
