Presented is a scarf worn by the “King,” Elvis Presley, and signed in blue marker by one of his closest friends, singer and guitarist Charlie Hodge. The 32 x 32 inch square purple cloth scarf was worn by Presley during one of his concert appearances in the mid-1970s. Hodge was a charter member of the “Memphis Mafia” that accompanied Presley on tour and around the world during the 1960s and 1970s. The pair first met in 1955 in Memphis but were stationed together in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, Texas in 1958.Hodge is said to have been with Presley in Germany when the latter met his future wife, Priscilla. Hodge would later be the stage manager and a musician of The Elvis Presley Show, when Presley returned to live performances after his 1968 comeback TV special. Hodge lived at Presley’s mansion, Graceland, in Memphis for 17 years, and was part of his entourage on Presley’s final tour when the rock and roll legend died in 1977. This item is accompanied by a COA from Elvis Presley collector Phil Efron (001315).
