     The United States Air Force officers aboard the B-29 Superfortress bomber Enola Gay changed the course of humanity when they dropped the “Little Boy” atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Presented here are two baseballs, one signed by Navigator Theodore “Dutch” Van Kirk and one signed by assistant weaponeer Morris Jeppson.

     The first ball is an Allan H. Selig Official Major League baseball signed by Jeppson. He inscribed, to the right of Selig’s stamped signature “Weapon Test Officer / Enola Gay Mission / Aug. 6, 1945 / Hiroshima, / Japan”. He signed and inscribed this baseball in blue pen. This baseball comes with a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (B54377).

     The second ball is also an Allan H. Selig Official Major League baseball, and it has been signed by Van Kirk. He wrote “Theodore ‘Dutch’ Van Kirk / Navigator for Enola Gay / 6 Aug. 1945” on the sweet spot. On the south panel he wrote “Last Surviving / Crew Member / of Enola Gay and / Backs co.” He signed and inscribed the ball in blue pen. This baseball comes with a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (B54378).
