Alex Rodriguez is the youngest Major League Baseball player to reach the 600-home run career milestone.  He did it at the new Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 in the first inning with one runner on, two outs on a 2-0 count from Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Shaun Marcum, hitting a two-run homer to center field and putting the Yankees up, 2-0, en route to a 5-1 Yankees win.

That home run marked A-Rod's 17th blast of the season and his 255th home run in a Yankees uniform. Rodriguez is the youngest player in history to hit 600 home runs; he did so at 35 years, 8 days old. A-Rod is also the youngest player in American League history to hit 600 homers. After a 22-year Major League Baseball career, Rodriguez retired with 696 career home runs, fourth all-time behind Barry Bonds (762), Hank Aaron (755) and Babe Ruth (714).

Presented is the first base bag from that historic game that was used in the eighth and ninth innings of the August 4th game. The Yankees slugger has signed the left side of the bag in black marker and inscribed the right side “600 HR 8/4/10” also in black marker. There are dirt marks atop the white hard plastic Schutt Hollywood Bases Jack Corbett base, which has white, blue and silver plastic plaque reading “New York Yankees” with the Yankees iconic interlocking “NY” logo on either side of the words, on all four sides of the base. This item has an MLB Authenticated hologram (FJ191105) which authenticates that this base was used during the 8th & 9th innings of the August 4th game and also comes with a LOA from Steiner Sports for the game use. Additionally, there is a COA from Steiner Sports for the signature.
