In 1924, the champions of the Negro National League and the Eastern Colored League met for the first time in the Colored World Series. This event, which was mediated by Kenesaw Mountain Landis, pitted the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro National League against the Eastern Colored League’s Hilldale Club. Five future Hall of Famers suited up in this Best-of-10 series, with Judy Johnson, Biz Mackey, and Louis Santop playing for Hilldale, and Bullet Rogan and Jose Mendez playing for the Monarchs. The Monarchs would go on to win this series five games to four, with one game finishing as a tie.
