Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich were New York Yankee teammates and best friends. The friendship went a little too far when both players announced they had swapped families including wives, kids, houses and even dogs! Prior to this MLB level trade Peterson was a pretty good pitcher, including a 20-11 season in 1970 which registered him his only All-Star game appearance. This All-Star ring was presented to Peterson for his appearance, and is all original but with one addition. Peterson took his ex-wife's engagement ring, removed the diamond and had this diamond set within the blue stone on top. This new stone ensemble is encircled with "AMERICAN LEAGUE ALL STAR" in raised relief. One shank has the name "Peterson" engraved on a baseball, while the other has the date of the game "July 21, 1970" (not the date of their "trade") also engraved on a baseball. This 10K gold Balfour ring is size 10 weighs 32 grams, and has "BALFOUR" engraved within the band. This is a tremendous MLB All Star player ring with a tremendous story involving several family "additions" including the diamond on top. This ring is also accompanied by the diamond-less band of Peterson's ex-wife. Excellent condition.
