A seven time All-Star during his 12 years with the Montreal Expos, Hall of Fame catcher Gary “The Kid” Carter was the first player with a Hall of Fame plaque to be depicted as a member of the now defunct Expos, his teammate Andre Dawson is the only other player whose plaque is adorned with an Expos cap. Carter wore this nostalgic red, white and blue Montreal Expos batting helmet, manufactured by the American Baseball Cap Company, sometime during the early 1980s (circa 1982-1984) while he was arguably the best catcher in the game. Helmet displays excellent evidence of use, the dirt encrusted headband appears to have been re-glued and the manufacturer’s size-7 ¼ tag on the inside of the helmet contains Carter’s number “8” written in black marker alongside another number (40) that has been scribbled over and replaced with Carter’s “8.” Carter signed the helmet in bold black sharpie on the front white segment of the helmet above the Expos red, white and blue “M” logo with a “Best Wishes” inscription. This period piece of expansion era baseball history comes with J.T. Sports LOA and PSA/DNA certification #X52311. Also Comes with LOA from his marketing agent MC Sports who received this personally from Carter.
