Offered is a signature and inscription by longtime owner of the New York Yankees, George Steinbrenner. During Steinbrenner's 37-year ownership of the Yankees from 1973 to his death in July 2010, the longest in club history, the Yankees earned seven World Series titles and 11 pennants. His outspokenness and role in driving up player salaries made him one of the sport's most controversial figures. Known as a hands-on baseball executive, Steinbrenner earned the nickname "The Boss". He played a major role in the revitalization of the Yankees beginning in the 1970s with the renovations to Yankee Stadium, the acquisition of free agents Jim “Catfish” Hunter and Reggie Jackson, and the decision to build a new Yankee Stadium in the 2000s. He has inscribed “Seth from his pal George Steinbrenner” in black ink on a 3 x 5-inch white index card. This lot has been pre-certified by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
